Two-factor authentication is a supplemental form of authentication used in addition to your ID and password to further strengthen your account’s security. bitFlyer supports two-factor authentication by email, SNS, or authentication app for the following actions.
① When logging in
② When registering an external address
③ When withdrawing JPY
④ When withdrawing crypto assets (virtual currency) or using bitWire
1 is optional, but 2 through 4 are always required.
If you have not changed your password since opening your account, or if you used the same email, ID, and/or password for other services, there is a risk of your email being compromised. We strongly recommend using SMS or an authentication app to improve the security of your account. For those who have not set two-factor authentication or use email authentication, please set a 4-digit PIN.
How to enable two-factor authentication:
After logging in, select Settings and then Security Settings. Under Two-Factor Authentication, select Update.
Select authentication app, text message to your cell phone (SMS), or email.
*SMS and authentication apps are recommended for improving security. If your email account is hacked, it would compromise your two-factor authentication by email.
*In addition to crypto assets (virtual currency) withdrawals and bitWire, we recommend enabling two-factor authentication for logging in, registering an external address, and when making JPY withdrawals.
When selecting SMS:
An authentication code will be sent. Check the SMS message on your mobile phone, enter the authentication code sent to you, and press Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
When selecting an authentication app:
Install one of the mobile authentication apps displayed such as Google Authenticator. After that, use the app’s QR code reader to scan the displayed code or manually enter the account key. Enter the code displayed in the app and press Enable Two-Factor Authentication to complete the process.
When selecting email:
lease set a 4-digit PIN.
If two-factor authentication is not enabled when making a crypto assets (virtual currency) withdrawal or using bitWire, two-factor authentication by email and a 4-digit PIN will be required.
